Its 7am September 30th 1967 and ex pirate radio  DJ Tony Blackburn opens up Radio 1 (Six weeks after The Marine Offences Bill became law and the offshore radio stations had to close). Gone are the days of The Light Programme and The Home Service. Listen to the late Kenny Everett promoting the new station. Hear protesters outside Broadcasting House arguing that Radio 1 is a poor imitation of the pirates. This CD gradually goes through the 10 years, 1968 Radio 1 Club was born. Listen to members of the public commenting on the new station. You'll hear the old original Radio 1 jingles remember them? Remember Seen and Heard? The DJs include, Ed Stewart, Tony Blackburn, Johnnie Walker, the late Kenny Everett, the late Mike Ahern, Chris Denning, Dave Cash, Terry Wogan, Jimmy Young, Dave Simonds, Rosko most of which were ex pirate radio DJs. A brilliant CD charting the early years of Radio 1. Gosh it seems such a  long time ago but it certainly brings back the memories.
